Select a category and submission method
How do I choose the building permit route?
The application directory separates Residential, Multi-Family, Agricultural, Commercial/Industrial/Institutional, Plumbing and Sprinklers, and Other permits. Open the category matching the actual project before assembling drawings. Different work can need more than one permit category.

Can I still submit a paper application?
Where the permit type has an Apply Online button, the Township says paper applications are no longer accepted. Digital availability is project-specific. Check the chosen category rather than assuming all applications use either paper or online submission.

What should I read before applying online?
The directory links an eApply Getting Started Guide and a digital application FAQ. Use these for account setup and upload instructions, then the checklist for the actual permit type. A general account guide does not replace the project submission checklist.

Tree review before permit issue
Why should tree protection be checked before design?
The Township warns that applicable tree requirements must be reviewed and accepted before a building permit can issue. Designers and architects should account for protected trees in the first drawings, because conflicting drawings can be rejected or need resubmission.
Does a building permit automatically authorize tree removal?
No. Review the tree-protection process and any separate removal requirements with Permits, Licences and Inspections. The Township specifically warns that overlooking tree rules can cause substantial permit delays. Call 604-533-6018 about the interaction with a project.
Where can I find the forms for an unusual project?
Use the Other category and the relevant application guide. The main building permit page is an introduction, not a complete checklist for every building type. Ask the division for the right category when work crosses residential, agricultural or commercial uses.

Prepare for inspections and get help
What inspection access should I arrange at application time?
The owner, builder or applicant provides a four-to-six-digit access code on the building permit application. This links the permit to a MyTownship account for eInspections. Retain the code securely and plan how required trades will receive it.
Can every trade use the same inspection account?
Trades can link the permit to their own MyTownship accounts using the permit's single access code. The owner, builder or applicant distributes that code. Each trade does not receive a separate Township-issued code for the same permit.
When do early site inspections occur?
Where permit conditions require ESC/BIN or Noise Sign inspections, request them after permit issue and before work starts. Review the conditions on the actual permit. A submitted building application is not approval to begin construction.
Who answers building application questions?
Call Permits, Licences and Inspections at 604-533-6018 about building and tree-related submission requirements. Use the current project guide for the detailed forms. This guide covers application routing, not a replacement design or a guarantee of approval.
