Accounts, permit linking and missing codes

How do I request a building inspection?

All requests must be submitted through eInspections, accessed using MyTownship. The system supports scheduling, cancellation and rescheduling. Create or sign into an account and link the correct building permit before choosing an inspection.

What access code do I need?

Use the four-to-six-digit code provided by the owner, builder or applicant on the permit application. Only one access code is issued per building permit. The code links the permit to an account; it is not needed again for every booking.

How do I obtain a missing access code?

The owner, builder or applicant can use the Request MyTownship Building Permit Access Code form. The request must use the same email address provided for inspection notices. A trade should get the existing code from the permit applicant instead of requesting another.

Deadlines, availability and booking notes

What is the booking deadline?

Submit at least by 3:30pm on the business day before the desired inspection. Daily inspection numbers are limited. Booking by that time does not guarantee next-day availability, so allow time in the construction schedule.

Are next-day inspections guaranteed?

No. The Township expressly says next-day inspections cannot be guaranteed. Inspectors try to attend as scheduled, but a delayed inspection may move to the following business day. Check the booking status before covering work or arranging the next trade.

What information belongs in the notes?

Provide the business licence of the contractor or trade doing the work. If you are the homeowner doing the work without a contractor or subtrade, enter homeowner in the notes field. Match the request to the correct permit and work.

Trades, early inspections and changes

Can subcontractors book their own inspections?

Yes, when they link the permit to their own MyTownship account with the permit's access code. The owner, builder or applicant is responsible for sharing that code with the trades who need to make requests.

Which inspections must happen before work starts?

Since January 29, 2022, required ESC/BIN and Noise Sign inspections must be requested after building permit issue and before any work starts. Check the conditions listed on the permit to identify which apply to your project.

Can I cancel or change a request?

Use eInspections to cancel or reschedule through the linked MyTownship permit. The Township provides a Building Inspection Request Guide and a MyTownship eInspection Reference Guide for navigation. Update a booking rather than assuming a phone message changes the online request.

Where should I check the full inspection list?

Read the conditions on the issued building permit. Required inspections depend on the project, and the booking page does not provide one universal inspection sequence. Use the official guides for account help and keep inspection notices accessible to the people doing the work.
